Key Responsibilities

Clinical Duties

  • Respond promptly to urgent crisis calls
  • Oversee the Child/Adolescent Crisis Team's actions during emergencies
  • Exhibit proficiency in identifying crisis indicators and employing de-escalation techniques
  • Assess the necessary level of intervention during crises and prioritize responses accordingly
  • Maintain effective communication with Access to Care
  • Provide immediate crisis intervention as required
  • Conduct assessments of consumer needs using the CANS framework
  • Establish objectives and devise plans for suitable services
  • Facilitate connections to community resources
  • Monitor clients to ensure placement in the least restrictive settings
  • Continuously track clients' progress and needs as identified in the CANS
  • Advocate for clients to secure necessary community resources
  • Collaborate effectively with treatment team members and external partners in delivering case management services
  • Evaluate clients for discharge planning
  • Monitor clinical outcomes in accordance with contractual obligations
  • Demonstrate proficiency in child/adolescent-specific competencies

Supervision and Consultation

  • Seek clinical supervision and consultation as necessary
  • Accept and implement feedback for professional development
  • Actively pursue enhancements to case management skills

Documentation and Record Keeping

  • Ensure timely documentation in compliance with AltaPointe policies
  • Complete thorough and accurate CANS assessments
  • Document specific and measurable goals in individualized service plans
  • Clearly record types of consumer issues, ISP goals addressed, and services rendered
  • Maintain records of case dispositions, closures, follow-ups, and referrals
  • Ensure legibility in all documentation

Caseload Management

  • Manage caseload effectively based on consumer requirements
  • Meet productivity standards set by AltaPointe

Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in a mental health-related field is required. Candidates must be at least 23 years old, possess a valid driver’s license, and maintain a clean driving record.

Knowledge in child/adolescent specialties, to be acquired within six months of employment, includes:

  • Understanding psychiatric disorders prevalent in the child/adolescent demographic
  • Basic comprehension of child/adolescent growth and development across all dimensions
  • Awareness of developmental disabilities and mental health issues in children and adolescents
  • Foundational knowledge of behavior management and parenting challenges
  • Insight into cultural diversity
  • Familiarity with behavior management, crisis intervention, and non-violent crisis intervention practices
  • Understanding the impacts of abuse and neglect
  • Knowledge of community resources applicable to child/adolescent needs
  • Certification from the Alabama State Department of Mental Health for providing case management services
  • Familiarity with the CANS (Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths Assessment)
  • Experience in facilitating behavioral health therapy groups for various age groups
