Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Counselor to join our team at The Chicago Lighthouse. As a key member of our staff, you will provide counseling services and mental health support to clients who are blind or visually impaired.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver clinical mental health services to individuals who are blind or visually impaired
  • Implement program activities, including overseeing student programs and providing psychotherapeutic and mental health services
  • Perform diagnostic evaluations and conduct individual, group, and family sessions in a virtual environment
  • Recommend outreach and marketing strategies to increase referrals and prepare required reports and documentation
  • Maintain affiliation with Chicagoland universities and professional schools and collaborate with agency research staff on research protocols
  • Provide in-service training to agency staff and oversee daily activities of trainees
  • Participate in professional field activities, analyze trends, and present program to community and professional groups
Requirements
  • Licensed in Illinois as a clinical psychologist or licensed clinical professional counselor, licensed clinical social worker, or licensed marriage and family therapist
  • Degree in clinical psychology, counseling, social work, or marriage and family therapy from an accredited program
  • Experience working with individuals who are blind or visually impaired in a professional capacity and providing individual, group, and family therapy
  • At least two years of licensed clinical experience in active psychotherapy service delivery
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills and ability to organize, prioritize, and coordinate activities
