Child Welfare Program Specialist

**New Horizon Counseling Center** is seeking a dedicated Child Welfare Program Specialist to join our interdisciplinary team. This role plays a vital part in supporting families and children with serious emotional disturbances, chronic conditions, or trauma experiences.
The ideal candidate will assist these individuals in developing their highest level of functioning and wellness by identifying strengths and needs, connecting them to community resources, and ensuring they receive necessary services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ongoing assessment, evaluation, and provision of service needs for each case.
- Coordination and monitoring of all services, including medical, mental health, and educational wellness/success through collaborative relationships.
- Home and field visits to provide counseling, crisis intervention, referral, and advocacy services, as well as coordination of services and assistance with basic needs.
- Collaboration with each child and family to develop written care plans and crisis plans, as needed.
- Preparation of charting, assessment forms, accountability forms, and direct service requirements in compliance with state and city regulations.
- Attendance at regular supervisory and case conference sessions, trainings, and other meetings, as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree Required; Master's Degree Preferred in fields such as Social Work, Psychology, Education, Rehabilitation, Human Services, Occupational Therapy, Counseling, Community Mental Health, Sociology, Physical or Recreational Therapy.
- Training and successful certification as a CANS-NY Assessor within 30 days of start date.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Two (2) years of related human services experience for B.A. level candidates, or one (1) year for M.A. level candidates, providing direct services or linking children with serious emotional disturbances to services.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and time management skills, along with English-language writing skills to fulfill state and city regulations for record-keeping.
- A team player with creativity, commitment, and initiative to be part of a growing, dynamic program.
- Ability and willingness to regularly travel, sometimes with clients in an agency vehicle, to various locations using reliable and safe transportation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Community Resources, Medicaid, and other entitlements.
- Knowledge of Trauma, Child Welfare, and/or Child Development.
- Bilingual a plus.
This is a full-time position with a salary range starting at $47,000 annually.
