Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Monitor Technician to join our team at Hackensack Meridian Health. As a Monitor Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest level of patient care by monitoring and interpreting heart rhythms, documenting patient records, and collaborating with the multidisciplinary care team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Measure and interpret patient heart rhythms, documenting on patient records according to departmental standards.
  • Initiate and discontinue monitoring equipment on admission, transfer, or discharge, performing configuration as necessary.
  • Provide training and troubleshooting support to Central Telemetry and clinical areas, serving as a resource for monitor troubleshooting and contacting Clinical Engineering as needed.
  • Maintain designated equipment, including telemetry and transport monitors.
  • Develop a rapport and cooperative relationship with nursing and other members of the multidisciplinary care team.
  • Adhere to confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patients, clinicians, employees, and visitors.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Diploma Required.
  • Successful completion of the Heart Monitor Tech Course/Cardiac Rhythm at any hospital.
  • Successful passing score on HUMC Monitor Technician Arrhythmia Exam.
  • Computer, order entry, basic Microsoft Office, and excellent communication skills required.
  • Must enjoy working with patients and families.
  • Must be flexible and able to rapidly adjust to changes.
  • Ability to accept responsibility for accuracy and response times to emergent and non-emergent requests.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Nursing Patient Care Assistant or Unit Secretary work experience in a hospital setting is strongly desired.
  • Current and active Monitor Tech work experience is strongly desired.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)/Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for Healthcare Providers is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology of the heart is strongly preferred.
