Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Public Works Inspector I to join our team at Spanish Fork City. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting routine inspections and surveying of public infrastructure installation for City projects and development to ensure they meet Spanish Fork City's Construction Standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct inspections and surveys of public infrastructure installation to ensure compliance with City standards
  • Calculate bond estimates and make recommendations for bond releases
  • Track and document completion and approval of infrastructure
  • Assist with utility mapping and Blue Stakes
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Eight (8) years of experience in public works
  • Valid Driver's License
  • APWA Certified Public Infrastructure (CPII) certification within three (3) years of hire date
  • Water Distribution II & Wastewater Collections II certifications within three (3) years of hire date
  • Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) certification within three (3) years of hire date
  • IS-100, IS-200, & IS-700 certifications within one (1) year of hire date
Preferred Qualifications
  • Basic knowledge of public works operations and subdivision development
  • Ability to analyze construction plan/profile drawings, utility maps, and city construction standards
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Basic skills in operating computers and the ability to use Microsoft Excel
Working Conditions

The Public Works Inspector I will work in an office environment and outdoors with exposure to adverse weather conditions, hazardous materials, chemicals, and fumes. The position may require working in and around vehicular traffic and may involve exposure to high stress situations or environments.
