Position Overview:
YOUR ROLE IS CRUCIAL:
We are seeking a Senior Audit Staff Accountant to play a pivotal role in guiding our clients and supporting our internal leadership as we expand in the Great Lakes Region.
As a Senior Audit Staff Accountant, your primary responsibility will be to execute the necessary procedures for planning and conducting attestation engagements for clients, adhering to the relevant accounting standards. This position involves close collaboration with clients and internal leaders to ensure the delivery of high-quality work, while also providing opportunities to engage in more complex areas of assignments and develop supervisory skills in preparation for a senior-level role.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Your regular tasks will include, but are not limited to:
- Conducting and assisting with audits, reviews, and compilations across various sectors.
- Preparing and analyzing financial statements while assessing internal controls.
- Coordinating the daily activities related to planning, fieldwork, and finalization.
- Possessing a thorough understanding of accounting and reporting standards.
- Creating realistic time budgets and managing audit requests to adhere to deadlines.
- Engaging with clients to facilitate efficient information flow between the client and the audit team.
- Updating clients, management, and the Managing Director on work progress and any arising client issues.
QUALIFICATIONS WE SEEK:
Experience:
- 2-3 years in a relevant role.
- Experience in public accounting or a similar professional services environment is preferred.
- Familiarity with municipal government and/or nonprofit sectors is advantageous but not mandatory.
Education:
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- A degree in Accounting is required.
Licensure/Certification:
- Actively pursuing CPA Exam or relevant certification in your field, if not already certified.
- Must maintain required Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits annually.
Legal/Compliance:
- Completion of the Independence Guidelines and Ethical Standards acknowledgment is necessary.
- Governmental engagements may require the ability to obtain a security clearance from the United States government.
