In this temporary position, the Equipment Operator plays a crucial role in our ongoing transformation into a more efficient airport, aimed at improving passenger experiences and fulfilling our vision of global aviation leadership. The Equipment Operator will be expected to work assigned shifts and may be required to take on overtime during the winter months.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing or participating in job safety analysis procedures.
- Operate heavy machinery such as backhoes, front-end loaders, and excavators to support tradespeople in the excavation and repair of utility lines.
- Utilize high-pressure water cleaning equipment for sewer maintenance.
- Manage pumps for manhole operations.
- Handle rubber and paint removal tasks on runways and taxiways.
- Operate forklifts for material handling across various maintenance departments.
- Engage skid steers and related machinery for landscaping projects.
- Support tenants through hoisting and material handling tasks.
- Run paving equipment for in-house projects.
- Utilize crawler loaders and excavators for repairs, drainage work, and emergency road openings.
- Load and stockpile materials such as sand, salt, and construction supplies.
- Excavate and install catch basins and storm sewer piping.
- Operate snow removal equipment, excluding trucks with plows, to maintain airport operations.
- Clear ice and snow from runways, taxiways, ramps, and roadways using graders and loaders.
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines established by the ACAA.
- Maintain professional relationships with management and colleagues.
- Execute other related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of two years of experience operating heavy mobile construction and maintenance equipment.
- Possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this position, employees are regularly required to communicate effectively. Frequent sitting and use of hands for tasks are necessary, along with occasional standing, walking, reaching, climbing, and stooping. The ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly, 50 pounds frequently, and 100 pounds occasionally with assistance is required.
Employees will work outdoors and may be exposed to various weather conditions, fumes, airborne particles, and extreme temperatures. The noise level in the work environment is typically very loud. Employees may be required to work additional shifts, including holidays, and remain on duty beyond assigned hours during emergencies or peak periods.
