This position is a full-time faculty role within the Practical Nursing Program, supported by grant funding. Faculty members are expected to embrace their responsibilities as professional educators. Under the guidance of the Department Chair, the primary responsibility of faculty is to instruct assigned courses, which takes precedence over all other duties. In addition to teaching, faculty are expected to engage in professional development, contribute to the college community, and fulfill other responsibilities as assigned by their supervisors. Faculty must adhere to and support the college's policies as outlined in the College Catalog, Faculty Handbook, Employment Memorandum, and Administrative Procedures Manual. A commitment to the learning college philosophy and the goals of NWACC is essential.

Work Expectations

Meeting the essential duties and responsibilities of this role is anticipated to require an average of 40 hours per week, encompassing both on-campus and off-campus work during the contract period. Faculty work is scheduled at designated times each week (e.g., classes, office hours, meetings), but the nature of the workload at the college level allows for flexibility in fulfilling non-scheduled responsibilities based on individual judgment.

Given the college's commitment to providing learning opportunities around the clock, a standard 8 to 5, Monday through Friday schedule is not feasible. Faculty schedules will vary from semester to semester and week to week to best support student learning, professional growth, and service to the college.

Key Responsibilities

The following duties are typical for a faculty member at NWACC:

  • Instruction: Facilitate student learning, deliver effective instruction, and evaluate student performance for all assigned courses, adhering to the standard course outline. Faculty are responsible for developing course materials, participating in program-level assessments, and collaborating with colleagues on curriculum development.
  • Professional Development: Engage in faculty evaluation processes, maintain current knowledge in the academic discipline, and participate in professional development activities.
  • Service to the College: Assist students in achieving their educational goals, maintain campus hours for student interaction, and serve on committees and boards as needed.

Compensation: Salary is determined based on faculty scale placement, considering education and years of experience.

Qualifications:

  • Current, unencumbered registered nurse license to practice in Arkansas.
  • Previous clinical nursing experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
  • Minimum of two years of clinical experience.
  • Experience in clinical and classroom teaching is preferred.
  • Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, problem-solving, and counseling skills.
  • Knowledge of contemporary nursing practices and relevant regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and distance learning platforms.
  • Clear criminal background and drug screening.
  • Current TB/CPR documentation and immunizations.
