City of Saratoga Springs Planning Department - Senior Planner Position

The City of Saratoga Springs is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Planner to join our dedicated team. This position plays a vital role in shaping the future of our community by contributing to comprehensive planning initiatives, zoning regulations, and economic development strategies.

Responsibilities
  • Provide expert guidance and support to various land use boards, including the Zoning Board of Appeals, ensuring adherence to established regulations and policies.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including developers, architects, engineers, and community members, to facilitate informed decision-making processes related to land use development projects.
  • Conduct thorough research and analysis to prepare comprehensive planning documents, reports, and presentations that inform policy recommendations and public discourse.
  • Assist in the implementation of zoning ordinances, ensuring compliance with state and local regulations while promoting sustainable growth and community well-being.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of economic development initiatives aimed at fostering a thriving business environment and enhancing the quality of life for residents.
Qualifications

Candidates must possess a Master's degree in Planning, Urban Geography, Architecture, Public Policy, Geographic Information Systems, Public Administration, Economics, or a closely related field, along with two years of full-time paid planning experience. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field coupled with four years of experience or an Associate's degree with six years of experience may be considered.

A valid New York State Driver's License is required for this position.
