Medical Support Specialist

Job Summary:
Alleghany Health is seeking a skilled Medical Support Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will work under the supervision of a provider and Clinical Services Director to perform various duties, including patient intake, collecting blood and body fluids for laboratory processing, and demonstrating appropriate skills and abilities to assess, treat, and/or care for patients.
Responsibilities:
- Perform duties as assigned under the supervision of a provider and Clinical Services Director.
- Collect blood and body fluids for laboratory processing.
- Demonstrate the appropriate skills and abilities, based upon the scope of practice or level of training, to assess, treat, and/or care for patients.
- Work with patients, families, and co-workers in a professional and tactful manner.
Qualifications:
- At least two years of experience in the medical assistance field is preferred.
- Current North Carolina license as a CMA or CCMA is required.
- BLS certification is required or must be obtained within 30 days of hire date.
Requirements:
- Demonstrate a high level of mental and emotional tolerance and even temperament when dealing with ill people.
- Use tact, sensitivity, sound judgment, and a professional attitude when relating with patients, families, and co-workers.
- Act as a patient advocate.
- Have thorough knowledge of all treatment techniques and the operation and maintenance of all clinic-specific equipment.
- Knowledge of current hospital and clinic emergency policies and procedures is required.
- Excellent communication skills are necessary.
- Ability to respond to changing workloads and perform in an accurate and precise manner in crisis and emergency situations.
Working Conditions:
This position requires working in a fast-paced clinical environment with frequent interactions with patients, families, and co-workers.
