Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Direct Support Professional to join our team at Progressive Housing, Inc. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct support and assistance to residents in accordance with program policies and procedures.
- Ensure residents exercise their rights and are treated with dignity and respect.
- Respect and maintain confidentiality of all residents' personal information.
- Implement and document individual goals and objectives.
- Be familiar with emergency behavior management techniques, standard precautions, and infection control techniques.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living, promoting independence and autonomy.
- Attend Individual Service Plans (ISPs) meetings and assist in the development of the program plan.
- Attend in-service training as required to continue skill development.
- Assist with general housekeeping and prepare meals according to standardized recipes.
- Provide transportation and support for residents on outings, shopping trips, and appointments.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Age 18 or older.
- Ability to read and comprehend English at an 8th grade level.
- Must be a certified DSP, certified in CPR/First Aid, and certified for Medication Administration.
- Valid Illinois driver's license and comply with company policy for driving company vehicles.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen.
- Able to lift at least 50lbs, daily standing, bending, lifting.
