Position Overview

The Construction Trade Supervisor will assist in construction operations on-site by utilizing tools, engaging in punch list activities, and executing self-performed tasks. This role will involve both completing assignments personally and overseeing a team as a working supervisor. All tasks will be conducted in alignment with the strategy, vision, and values of J. E. Dunn.
  • Autonomy and Decision-Making: Makes choices on standard matters, offers suggestions to the supervisor, and escalates any exceptions to the supervisor.
  • Career Path: Progression to Trade Supervisor 2.
Primary Responsibilities - Core
  • Actively engages in all facets of the company's safety culture by demonstrating a commitment to an injury-free workplace through personal actions and mentoring others.
  • Utilizes tools to accomplish specific assigned tasks on a project.
  • Monitors and reports on units and labor hours, including completing and submitting timecards.
  • Ensures proper maintenance and availability of tools and equipment necessary for project-specific production.
  • Leads and oversees safety and security protocols within the team.
  • Understands and meets team production objectives.
  • Establishes team sizes that align with production targets.
  • Records essential information such as activities, productions, and team sizes.
  • Communicates with suppliers and coordinates the delivery of materials to the job site.
  • Understands and maintains established quality standards related to responsibilities.
  • Coordinates other trade work associated with the designated scope of work.
  • Participates in all safety initiatives such as toolbox talks, job hazard assessments, job site evaluations, and reporting.
  • Interprets and comprehends plans, specifications, shop drawings, and coordination drawings.
  • Provides on-the-job guidance and willingly shares expertise to support team member learning and growth.
  • Coordinates inspections for the assigned scope of work.
  • Participates in, documents, and updates punch lists.

Education
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Vocational/Technical degree in a related field (Preferred).
Experience
  • 2+ years of experience in commercial construction.
Working Environment
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
  • May require periods of travel.
  • May be exposed to extreme conditions (hot or cold).
  • Must be willing to work non-traditional hours to meet project requirements.
  • Frequent activities include standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching above shoulder, pushing, and pulling.
  • Occasional activities include sitting and viewing a computer screen.
