Department Overview: The Physics & Astronomy Department comprises eight faculty members and four staff members, graduating between 14-30 majors annually. Our department fosters a collaborative culture that enhances our teaching, research, and service initiatives.

Facilities: We are equipped with modern teaching spaces, research laboratories, a computational research suite, an instrument shop, and a makerspace. Our observatory features both historic and contemporary optical telescopes for educational use.

Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. in Physics or a related discipline is required. Candidates who are close to completing their Ph.D. may also be considered.
  • Experience in teaching advanced laboratory courses.
  • A strong commitment to undergraduate education in a liberal arts context.
Responsibilities:
  • Teach five courses annually, with lab sections counting as half courses.
  • Guide students through their senior projects.
  • Involve undergraduates in research activities.
  • Participate in academic advising and serve on college committees after the first year.
Community Engagement:
  • Contribute to a welcoming environment that promotes a sense of belonging for all.
