Uncommon Schools is seeking highly motivated and dedicated individuals to join our Teaching Residency Program. This two-year program is designed for recent college graduates and career changers who are looking for an innovative pathway into the teaching profession.

Program Overview

The Teaching Residency Program is a partnership between Uncommon Schools and Relay Graduate School of Education (Relay GSE). Residents will work full-time as teachers at Uncommon Schools-Rochester Prep while receiving high-quality teacher training and support. The program is designed to provide Residents with the skills and knowledge needed to become highly effective teachers.

Responsibilities
  • Tutor small groups and individual students
  • Be a teacher's assistant
  • Co-teach
  • Teach certain elective and enrichment courses
  • Substitute teach
  • Complete Relay GSE coursework and take graduate school classes
  • Take all necessary New York state tests towards teacher certification
Eligibility Requirements
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree
  • Minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.75
  • A letter of recommendation
  • US Citizen or permanent resident status
