Key Responsibilities:

  1. Activity Development and Execution:
    • Design and oversee a varied calendar of activities and programs that reflect the interests and needs of residents.
    • Create personalized activity plans for residents based on their unique preferences, capabilities, and health considerations.
    • Ensure that activities are engaging, meaningful, and promote social interaction and physical wellness.
  2. Program Management:
    • Lead and facilitate group activities, including arts and crafts, games, educational workshops, and outings.

  5. Collaboration with Staff:
    • Work closely with nursing and care staff to ensure activities align with residents' care plans and health conditions.

  6. Safety and Compliance:
    • Follow safety protocols and ensure activities are conducted in a secure environment.

Qualifications:

  • Education and Certification:
    • A Bachelor’s degree in Recreational Therapy, Recreational Management, Social Work, or a related field is preferred.
    • Certification as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) or a similar credential is advantageous.
  • Experience:
    • Prior experience in an activity planning role within a long-term care or senior living setting is preferred.
    • Proven ability to create and lead engaging activities for diverse populations.
  • Skills and Competencies:
    • Strong organizational and leadership abilities with the capacity to manage multiple tasks and projects.

  • State Requirements:
    • Knowledge of Iowa state regulations and guidelines for activity programming in nursing and rehabilitation facilities.
