This position requires collaboration with various departments and personnel to foster an engaging atmosphere that caters to the varied interests and needs of our residents. The Coordinator will design and implement both individual and group activities, ensuring they align with the facility's objectives and state regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Activity Development and Execution:
- Design and oversee a varied calendar of activities and programs that reflect the interests and needs of residents.
- Create personalized activity plans for residents based on their unique preferences, capabilities, and health considerations.
- Ensure that activities are engaging, meaningful, and promote social interaction and physical wellness.
- Program Management:
- Lead and facilitate group activities, including arts and crafts, games, educational workshops, and outings.
- Partner with other departments and community organizations to enhance program offerings and opportunities.
- Coordinate volunteer initiatives and external entertainment, including arranging guest speakers, performers, and special events.
- Resident Interaction:
- Encourage a positive and inclusive atmosphere that promotes resident involvement and feedback.
- Provide individualized support and engagement for residents who may require assistance in participating in group activities.

- Administrative Responsibilities:

- Ensure adherence to regulatory standards and facility policies.
- Collaboration with Staff:
- Work closely with nursing and care staff to ensure activities align with residents' care plans and health conditions.
- Provide training and support to staff and volunteers involved in activity programs.
- Participate in meetings and care plan discussions to integrate activities with overall resident care.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Follow safety protocols and ensure activities are conducted in a secure environment.
- Stay informed about and comply with state and federal regulations regarding resident activities and facility operations.
Qualifications:
- Education and Certification:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Recreational Therapy, Recreational Management, Social Work, or a related field is preferred.
- Certification as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) or a similar credential is advantageous.
- Experience:
- Prior experience in an activity planning role within a long-term care or senior living setting is preferred.
- Proven ability to create and lead engaging activities for diverse populations.
- Skills and Competencies:
- Strong organizational and leadership abilities with the capacity to manage multiple tasks and projects.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with residents, families, and staff.
