Job Overview

The Groundskeeper plays a vital role in ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of landscapes and outdoor areas. Reporting directly to the Grounds Supervisor, this position is essential for maintaining the aesthetic and functional quality of all managed properties.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Landscape Management: Conduct mowing, trimming, pruning, and watering of grass, flowerbeds, trees, and shrubs across various properties.
  2. Planting and Mulching: Assist in the planting of seasonal flowers, trees, and shrubs, as well as spreading mulch in designated areas.
  3. Winter Operations: Participate in snow and ice removal activities, ensuring safe access to parking lots and walkways.
  4. Irrigation Maintenance: Support the upkeep of irrigation systems to ensure efficient water usage.
  5. Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to EPA regulations regarding chemical applications and follow all safety protocols established by the organization.
  6. Equipment Operation: Safely transport lawn care equipment to various locations as required.
  7. Maintenance Duties: Perform routine and preventative maintenance on pumps and fountains.
  8. Water Safety: Engage in water-related tasks, including graffiti removal and vandalism response.
  9. Additional Tasks: Carry out other duties as assigned by the Grounds Supervisor.
Equipment Proficiency:

The Groundskeeper should be adept in using a variety of tools and equipment, including lawn care machinery, pesticides, and personal protective equipment.

Qualifications:
  • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members and external partners.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, particularly during inclement weather.
  • Possession of a valid Indiana State Driver's License.
  • A minimum of three years of landscaping experience.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform manual tasks.
  • Ability to swim for tasks involving water.
  • Basic maintenance and repair skills for equipment.
  • Familiarity with computer systems and maintenance management software.
