Position Overview
Employment Status: PRN
Role Summary:
A registered nurse is responsible for executing the nursing process for each assigned patient/resident, spanning from infancy to geriatrics, based on the specific scope of care within the nursing department. This role entails coordinating both direct and indirect patient care in accordance with the Kentucky Nurse Practice Act, as well as adhering to the policies and procedures of Baptist Health emergency departments. Responsibilities will align with the educational background and demonstrated competencies of the individual.
Key Responsibilities:
Below is a summary of the primary functions associated with this position. Additional duties, both major and minor, may be performed as required, and specific responsibilities may evolve over time.
- Assess the clinical status of patients/residents
- Formulate a comprehensive care plan
- Implement and supervise the execution of the nursing care plan
- Evaluate the effectiveness of care provided
- Communicate and confirm patient care information
- Participate in Staff Meetings
Required Qualifications:
- Valid Kentucky RN License is mandatory
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification is required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications are necessary
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in an Emergency Room setting is essential
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent Nursing Certification is required, unless otherwise specified:
- Individuals hired as Staff RNs prior to a specified date are exempt from the BSN or Certification requirement.
- New Graduate Nurses with an Associate's degree must commit to obtaining a BSN within a specified timeframe.
- RNs with less than 5 years of nursing experience must enroll in a BSN program within a year of hire and complete it within 5 years.
- RNs with 5 or more years of experience must either obtain a BSN or a Nursing Certification within a specified timeframe.
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification is preferred
