Job Summary

This is a skilled position overseeing the production, scheduling, and maintenance of the hot plant. The plant operations manager is responsible for the safety of the hot plant crew and the efficient working condition of plant equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Works closely with plant operators and is able to perform various functions, including plant operations, maintenance, and quality control.
  • Reads work schedules and determines the sequence of operations to ensure efficient production.
  • Communicates effectively with customers and crews to ensure timely delivery and high-quality products.
  • Operates the plant according to production schedules using appropriate materials and equipment.
  • Monitors material operations to ensure quality and efficiency.
  • Performs maintenance and service on plant equipment as required.
  • Ability to weld using an arc welder or cutting torch is preferred.
  • Cleans the control house and yard facility daily.
  • Oversees truck scales and the loading of trucks.
  • Enters production information into computer systems.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • May be subject to drug testing, medical exams, and physical agility testing.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Work Requirements
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write correspondences and memos.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to work well with others in a group or one-on-one setting.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of inventory and order processing systems, as well as job-specific computer systems for ticketing and two-way radio for communications.
