Veterinary Technician

The Veterinary Technician in the Radiation Oncology department plays a vital role in assisting the Oncologist in daily duties and carrying out treatment and diagnostic plans. Compassion, patience, and professionalism are essential when interacting with clients, whether in person or over the phone.
Responsibilities- Appointment intake and patient history
- Documenting histories, treatments, and diagnostics into veterinary software (EzyVet)
- Assisting with exams, treatments, and diagnostics (radiation therapy, chemotherapy treatments, patient exams, etc.)
- Obtaining and processing laboratory samples
- Executing, monitoring, and recovering sedation and anesthetic events
- Maintaining equipment and supplies
- Reviewing estimates and discharges with clients
- Filling patient medication
- LVMT, CVT, LVT, or RVT licensure and at least 1+ years of veterinary hospital experience
- Reasonably in-depth understanding of veterinary medicine and basic disease processes
- Broad technical abilities (phlebotomy, catheterization, patient restraint, radiographs, in-house lab, pharmacology, medication/fluid/oxygen administration, etc.)
The physical demands of this role include frequent bending, standing, stooping, walking, sitting, talking, and listening. The employee may be required to walk or stand for long periods and will use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel. The employee is often required to lift and carry animals weighing fifty pounds or more and handle dogs weighing up to 150 pounds.
This position involves a potential for exposure to agents known to cause zoonotic disease in humans and the use of potentially hazardous chemicals as defined by the National Hazard Communication Standards.
