Neurocritical Care Faculty Positions
The University of Chicago's Department of Neurology is seeking qualified neurointensivists to enhance our multidisciplinary neurocritical care team. We particularly encourage applications from individuals with a strong interest and background in neurocritical care research. In addition to clinical responsibilities and academic contributions, successful candidates will engage in educational activities, including the mentorship of residents and neurocritical care fellows.
Our neurointensivists are responsible for the management of critically ill neurological and neurosurgical patients, possessing full privileges to conduct essential procedures, such as bedside intracranial monitoring. The University of Chicago Medical Center is recognized as a Joint Commission-certified Comprehensive Stroke Center, handling a significant volume of acute ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke cases. Additionally, it operates as a certified Level I Trauma Center, addressing numerous blunt and penetrating brain injuries, thereby offering unique opportunities for clinical and translational research in traumatic brain injury.
The neurocritical care fellowship at our institution is accredited by the ACGME, ensuring a high standard of training and education.
To qualify for consideration, applicants must meet the following criteria: 1) possess a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in Illinois, 3) be board certified or eligible in Neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or a relevant specialty, and 4) possess or be eligible for certification in Neurocritical Care by the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties (UCNS) and/or the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
