Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented, ambitious Senior Technical Accountant to join our Financial Reporting group. This individual will enjoy working on complex accounting issues and will be responsible for researching technical accounting matters, preparing technical accounting whitepapers, developing and maintaining accounting policies, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and SEC regulations, and implementing accounting standards alterations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and analyze complex accounting issues and prepare technical accounting whitepapers on topics such as business combinations, stock compensation, derivatives, leases, revenue recognition, etc.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of accounting policies with a focus on standardization and simplification.
  • Collaborate with entity and segment-level accountants to ensure accurate accounting for unique transactions.
  • Stay up-to-date on changes to US GAAP and SEC reporting and implement new accounting standards updates and SEC regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with SEC, US GAAP, and Sarbanes-Oxley regulations.
  • Prepare and present potential solutions and alternative accounting approaches in accordance with US GAAP and SEC regulations.
  • Develop expertise in accounting standards and regulations.
  • Participate in the documentation of required disclosures associated with our quarterly and annual filings of Forms 10-Q/10-K.
  • Evaluate business situations and identify key accounting issues; analyze the impact of each solution; select appropriate solutions and assist in implementing such solutions.
  • Present critical information to other departments, management, and/or external auditors in a clear and concise manner.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, CPA, or MBA.
  • 5+ years of accounting or finance experience or equivalent public accounting experience.
  • 3+ years of experience with quarterly and annual SEC reports.
  • 3+ years of experience interpreting or implementing complex accounting standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in researching complex accounting issues, preparing technical accounting memos, and implementing accounting standards updates.
  • Experience writing and maintaining global accounting policies.
  • Demonstrated financial and analytical skills with the ability to think creatively and innovatively.
  • Public accounting experience with advanced understanding of US GAAP.
  • Experience with a multinational public company.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to adapt to changing environments.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Working knowledge of financial systems/applications (Workiva, HFM, Smart View, SAP).
