About the Job

Placer County is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Land Surveyor to join our team. As a Senior Land Surveyor, you will be responsible for performing a variety of professional land surveying activities, both in the office and in the field. You will provide information and assistance to the public, exercise technical and functional supervision over technical and professional staff, and perform independent research, field survey work, and calculations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform independent research, field survey work, and calculations to determine property lines, right-of-way boundaries, and political boundaries.
  • Monitor progress of field survey crews and provide professional survey advice regarding survey problems and procedures.
  • Review records, descriptions, and maps submitted to the County Surveyor's office and prepare legal descriptions and certify that maps are technically correct.
  • Determine precinct boundaries caused by annexations, detachments, and changes in population.
  • Explain laws, regulations, and requirements to the public and confer and coordinate with other County departments and review boards.
  • Train and lead assigned subordinate staff and build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers and the public.
Requirements
  • Two years of responsible professional surveying experience.
  • Equivalent to an Associate's degree from an accredited college with major course work in engineering, surveying, or a related field.
  • Possession of a Land Surveyor in Training Certificate.
Working Conditions

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be able to work independently and as part of a team, and have a strong understanding of land surveying principles and practices. The selected candidate will be required to pass a medical examination and undergo a fingerprint test by the Department of Justice.
