About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Healthcare Coding Specialist to join our team at CommonSpirit Health Mountain Region. As a key member of our coding team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our medical records.

Responsibilities
  • Coding and abstracting outpatient records for data retrieval, analysis, and reimbursement
  • Utilizing the 3M encoder to enter diagnostic and procedure codes into the designated coding and abstracting system
  • Meeting quality and productivity coding standards and demonstrating the ability to navigate an EMR
  • Ability to code designated outpatient type at any facility
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/G.E.D. required
  • Associate Degree, preferred
  • A minimum of 2-year coding experience, preferably in an acute care setting
  • Must demonstrate competency of outpatient coding guidelines and APC assignment
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and emails and troubleshooting computer problems
  • Experience successfully working in a remote environment, preferred
  • Current AHIMA credentials (i.e. RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P) or AAPC credential (COC, CIC, CPC-H, CPC), required or must be certified within one year of hire
