About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Operations Supervisor to join our team at Dayton Freight Lines. As an Operations Supervisor, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and economical routing and movement of customers' freight.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, coordinate, and implement methods and procedures to optimize freight movement and minimize errors.
  • Compile production and service records, and measure conformance to standards to identify areas for improvement.
  • Inspect and measure performance of personnel, and implement changes in work practices to enhance overall Service Center operations.
  • Review logs and reports, and confer with shift personnel to determine scheduling, production, and administrative support requirements.
  • Set up appointment freight deliveries, and perform or assist with billing, rating, manifesting, and analysis of freight weight and size.
  • Maintain excellent communication with external and internal customers, and assist with training, development, and evaluation of production and/or clerical personnel performance.
  • Recruit, qualify, interview, hire, train, and develop Service Center personnel in conjunction with the Service Center Manager.
  • Ensure that Service Center premises are protected and maintained, and assist in the investigation, reporting, and initiation of corrective actions for accidents, job-related injuries, and employee discrepancies.
  • Understand and apply company safety practices, including DOT, EPA, ICC, and OSHA rules and regulations.
  • Assist with the facilitation of information meetings with Service Center team members, and effectively handle special assignments as directed.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the LTL/Transportation Industry, including experience managing drivers and dockworkers.
  • Knowledge of the surrounding geographical area to the Service Center.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States, and at least 18 years of age.
  • Fluent in English.
