Position Overview:
Aztec is in search of a Lead Cost Accountant to join our team. This role is pivotal in collaborating with various internal stakeholders across accounting, manufacturing, and other support functions to ensure accurate monthly reporting of manufacturing expenses and inventory levels in compliance with international financial reporting standards.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Key Responsibilities:
1. Analyzing and reconciling intercompany sales and revenue costs.
2. Assisting in the Budget Process by collaborating with department heads to provide analytical insights on historical trends, consolidating budget figures into the financial reporting system, and preparing explanations for budget variances.
3. Preparing variance analysis summaries.4. Reconciling inventory accounts and coordinating with plant accountants for monthly reconciliations.
5. Conducting analysis of variable, fixed, and depreciation costs.
6. Generating weekly inventory reports for management review.
7. Calculating monthly obsolescence reserves for aged inventory.
8. Preparing and distributing ad hoc reports for senior management.
9. Maintaining inventory process controls within the Corporate Costing Team and ensuring compliance and updates as needed.
10. Collaborating with internal and external audit teams to provide necessary documentation and explanations to facilitate the audit process.
11. Managing the accounting aspects of Full Physical Inventory counts across various locations.
12. Preparing detailed workbooks, adjustments, and reconciliations for all inventory locations.13. Establishing standard cost calculation rules during the budgeting phase.
14. Executing cost accounting close procedures at the corporate level.
15. Performing additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline is required, along with a minimum of three to five years of experience in general, cost accounting, or public accounting.
Skills and Competencies:
• Strong expertise in cost accounting and experience with integrated financial systems.
• Ability to comprehend the manufacturing process and the corresponding accounting flow.
• In-depth knowledge of standard costs, their implications, and how to leverage them for operational efficiency.
• Proven capability to organize and lead cost reduction initiatives, along with strong planning skills.• Proficiency in Oracle Manufacturing and cost accounting processes, including inventory transactions, bill of materials, routings, and overhead cost allocations.
• Familiarity with cost analysis, standard cost definitions, and variance analysis.
• Understanding of all inventory transactions within the company, including raw materials, work in progress, finished goods, sales, and payables.
