Histology Technologist

We are seeking a skilled Histology Technologist to join our team at Nuvance Health. As a Histology Technologist, you will play a critical role in preparing tissue samples for examination by pathologists. This is a challenging and rewarding position that requires attention to detail, strong technical skills, and excellent communication abilities.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare tissue samples for examination by pathologists, including embedding, cutting, mounting, and staining.
- Perform special stains in accordance with quality standards.
- Assist pathologists and pathology residents as needed in the Frozen Section & Gross Room.
- Communicate effectively with coworkers, pathology residents, and pathologists to ensure the quality and integrity of the service.
- Maintain a safe environment for yourself and coworkers, complying with all regulatory agencies and hospital safety programs.
- Participate in the Laboratory Performance Improvement Program.
- Teach and train new employees, students, and pathology residents.
- Fulfill all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
Associate's degree in a related field is required. One year of experience in histology or a related field is preferred. Histotechnologist certification is also preferred.
Working ConditionsThis position requires manual skills, motor coordination, and finger dexterity. Some occupational risk is involved, and physical effort may be medium to heavy. You may be exposed to dirt, odors, noise, and human waste.
