The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive health services to students, promoting health education, and collaborating with teachers, parents, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the well-being of our students.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct care to students, utilizing professional assessment skills and established school health protocols.
- Serve as a health advocate for students, notifying parents of accidents or illnesses and securing medical care as needed.
- Coordinate the administration of medications to students, following district policy and procedures.
- Develop and implement effective procedures for mandatory screening programs, making referrals as necessary.
- Participate in the development of campus health education curriculum and provide health education to individuals and groups.
- Graduate of an accredited professional nursing education program.
- Valid registered nurse license to practice professional nursing in Texas from the State Board of Nurse Examiners.
- Certified by the Texas Department of Health to conduct vision and hearing screening.
- CPR Certification.
- Two years of nursing experience, preferably in community health.
The School Nurse will work in a fast-paced environment, maintaining emotional control under stress and exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases.
