Job Summary

Rust Belt Recruiting is seeking a skilled Rough Hone Operator to join our team. As a key member of our machine shop, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining honing machines and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret technical documents, including safety rules, operating instructions, and work orders.
  • Set up and operate honing machines, ensuring proper tolerances and metal removal.
  • Position workpieces in fixtures or on machine tables, securing them with clamps and wrenches.
  • Select feed rates, honing speeds, and coolant flow depths to optimize metal removal.
  • Use precision measuring instruments and tools to ensure proper tolerances.
  • Set up and operate straightening machines and equipment.
  • Use propane torches, ball peen hammers, and air chisels to perform various tasks.
  • Familiarize yourself with propylene torches, coolant mixing, and refractometer use.
  • Meet established standards for productivity and quality.
  • Operate overhead crane systems and material handling equipment.
  • Pursue continuous improvement by suggesting and implementing solutions to increase productivity and reduce scrap.
Requirements
  • 2-3 years' experience in a machine shop or equivalent training.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to read specifications, drawings, and procedure manuals.
  • Experience with OTW Hones is preferred but not required.
  • Professional work ethics, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
