The Veterinary Referral Center of Central Oregon is seeking a dedicated Certified Veterinary Technician to join our esteemed team. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional care to our patients and their families, offering a wide range of services including dermatology, internal medicine, medical oncology, surgery, ophthalmology, neurology, urgent care, and emergency services.
As a vital member of our oncology team, the Oncology CVT will collaborate closely with veterinarians to ensure the highest standards of patient care. This role involves administering chemotherapy and other treatments, following established protocols and the directives of the primary veterinarian.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facility Maintenance: Ensure cleanliness and organization of treatment areas, including disinfecting surfaces and maintaining medical equipment.
- Patient Care: Provide compassionate care to patients, including restraining for exams, administering medications, and monitoring recovery.
- Client Communication: Engage with pet owners to gather medical histories, provide updates, and educate them on treatment plans.
- Laboratory Duties: Collect and process laboratory samples, perform in-house tests, and maintain inventory of supplies.
- Radiology: Conduct radiographic procedures and assist with imaging diagnostics.
- Additional Responsibilities: Undertake other tasks as assigned to support the veterinary team.
Qualifications:
- Certification as a Veterinary Technician (CVT, RVT, LVT) from an accredited program.
- Current licensure in the state of practice.
- Strong understanding of veterinary medical terminology and procedures.
- Experience in a clinical setting, preferably in oncology or specialty medicine.
Skills and Attributes:
- Ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations.
- Proficient in medical calculations and patient restraint techniques.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Capability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs independently and up to 150 lbs with assistance.
- Ability to perform various physical tasks throughout the workday.
- Willingness to work in an environment with exposure to animal sounds and bodily fluids.
