Job Summary

Securian Financial Group is seeking a skilled Structured Assets Credit Analyst to support the growth of our structured assets portfolios. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for helping us achieve our investment objectives through timely new issue recommendations, structural and underlying asset analysis, and ongoing surveillance of current holdings.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough analysis of primary and secondary structured asset markets to identify opportunities for growth and risk management.
  • Develop and present secondary ideas based on relative value analysis.
  • Trade approved trade ideas and maintain accurate records of transactions.
  • Monitor current holdings and adjust risk positions to align with fundamental viewpoints.
  • Provide regular updates on investment sector thesis and positioning.
  • Evaluate underlying asset performance metrics and compare to benchmarks.
  • Maintain asset analytics and modeling tools.
  • Conduct sector-level analysis to identify inflection points and provide fundamental sector outlook and recommendations.
  • Evaluate ESG factors and highlight relevant ESG options within sector coverage.
  • Develop and implement projects to enhance and improve the research process.
  • Participate in cross-sector support and debate to provide analytical support and relative value discussions.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of demonstrated investment research success in a liability-driven and/or total return environment in a structured analyst role.
  • Current or working towards CFA and/or MBA.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to make objective recommendations and defend viewpoints.
  • Strong math and analytical skills, including a strong understanding of structural nuances and modeling capabilities.
  • Ability to distill and communicate critical issues and assumptions.
  • Broad understanding of financial markets and risk models, supported by a background in math, economics, or statistics.
  • High level of curiosity, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to teamwork.
  • Experience utilizing research tools such as Bloomberg, Intex, Excel, and Tableau.
Work Environment

Securian Financial Group believes in hybrid work as an integral part of our culture. Associates get the benefit of working both virtually and in our offices. This position requires that you live within a commutable distance (90 minutes) of our Home Office in St. Paul, MN. You'll join us 2-3 days each week in our offices to collaborate and build relationships. Our policy allows flexibility for the reality of business and personal schedules.

Physical Job Requirements
  • Ability to utilize the keyboard, computer, and/or mouse for up to 8 hours per day.
  • Ability to work at least 40 hours per week.
  • Ability to utilize the phone and/or virtual meeting platform for 1-4 hours per day.
