Job Summary:

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides daily nursing care and services to residents in accordance with their assessment and care plan, and as directed by supervisors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Record all entries on flow sheets, notes, charts, etc.
  • Report changes in residents' conditions to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse
  • Perform tasks in accordance with facilities' established policies and procedures and as instructed by supervisors
  • Ensure residents' rooms are ready for receiving residents
  • Inventory and mark residents' personal possessions as instructed
  • Transport residents to new rooms or receiving areas
  • Assist residents with daily dental and mouth care, bath functions, dressing/undressing, hair care, nail care, and shaving as directed
  • Keep residents dry and make beds
  • Maintain intake and output records as instructed
  • Assist in preparing for medical tests and activity/social programs
  • Check residents routinely to ensure their personal care needs are met
  • Provide post-mortem care as instructed

Requirements:

  • Unencumbered, active CNA certification in the state of employment
  • Possess a sincere desire to work with elders and others with limited capacity for self-care
  • Mental and physical capacity to perform essential job functions with or without accommodations
  • Work with and provide care to individuals of various personality types and maturity levels
  • Demonstrate creative initiative and mature judgment in making competent decisions
  • Consistently maintain a courteous, empathetic, and professional attitude
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Maintain confidentiality of all activity, persons, and records
  • Communicate and comprehend orally and in writing to effectively receive and share information as necessary to perform job duties
  • Transportation accessible to enable flexibility of work schedule

Education/Experience:

  • Must possess a GED and Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Course (120 hours)
  • Must be a licensed Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in accordance with the state of Illinois
