About the Job

The DPR has an opening for an Attorney IV or III position in the Office of Legal Affairs focused on California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) compliance. Under the direction of the Chief Counsel, the Attorney IV or III provides legal support to DPR management and staff with focus on DPR CEQA program requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Reviewing and providing legal analyses of environmental documents associated with pesticide registration, regulatory, and reevaluation decision-making.
  • Advising the Director on appeals of county pesticide permitting decisions and applicable CEQA program requirements.
  • Working with and assisting assigned Deputy Attorneys General to defend CEQA challenges to DPR actions.
  • Preparing written opinions and advice to department management and staff on legal issues arising out of departmental programs.
  • Providing legal support to department enforcement programs.
Working Conditions

The position is located in an administrative office building and requires the ability to use a computer up to 8 hours a day. Occasional statewide travel with occasional overnight stays may be required.
