Job Title: Pediatric Nursing Supervisor

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pediatric Nursing Supervisor to join our team at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. As a key member of our nursing leadership team, you will be responsible for coordinating and directing nursing operations on our hospital units during off-shifts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and direct nursing operations on hospital units during off-shifts
  • Act as a liaison with physicians, patients, families, and staff
  • Schedule personnel and make patient care recommendations
  • Ensure effective patient throughput activities
  • Facilitate efficient and effective patient flow throughout the hospital
  • Review clinical information regarding anticipated admissions and provide bed placement for patients
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to determine patient needs for admission and discharge
  • Support and supervise staff in decision-making and clinical care
  • Provide feedback to staff on performance and recognize staff for a job well done
  • Guide staff to follow departmental policies, procedures, and standards
  • Oversee staffing, skill mix, and clinical productivity of all units within the hospital
  • Assist with resource sharing as needed to support variations in volume and acuity across the hospital
  • Support and serve as a clinical resource to staff to provide excellent and efficient clinical care
  • Respond to emergencies and assure that the appropriate resources and support are available
  • Lead through clinical practice changes and adapt to patient care needs
  • Expertise in managing quality of care and patient safety scenarios
  • Submit and review KAPS, identify and escalate safety concerns, and provide solutions
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required; Master's Degree preferred
  • At least five (5) years pediatric nursing experience with evidence of leadership responsibility
  • Experience as a unit leader, charge nurse, or other relevant patient flow experience
  • Excellent communication skills, critical thinking, and decisive judgment
  • Excellent leadership ability, excellent judgment, and computer skills
  • Basic data analytical skills, computer competency, and basic use of a computer and Microsoft Office
  • Navigation and use of clinical communication systems, information literacy, and information management literacy
  • Registered Nurse (Pennsylvania) or Registered Nurse (New Jersey) licensure required
