Position Overview
At Bon Secours, we are committed to ensuring a secure and healthy atmosphere for all visitors, patients, and staff. The individual in this role will be responsible for monitoring the environment to identify potential risks, alerting the necessary personnel, and implementing corrective measures. The officer will primarily remain on standby in the Emergency Room to deter and prevent any acts of violence. It is essential to notify the Security Specialist on duty when any action is taken.
Key Responsibilities
1. Remain on standby in the Emergency Room unless responding to an emergency or requested in other areas by the Security Specialist. Document activities in accordance with established protocols and take immediate action to prevent harm when necessary.
2. Prepare written reports for any significant incidents or unusual occurrences encountered while on duty.
3. Enforce local regulations and adhere to hospital policies related to security.
4. Maintain a positive service-oriented attitude towards the Hospital and foster good public relations with employees, patients, and visitors. Providing compassionate care and promoting the mission and values of the Hospital should always be a priority.
5. Operate communication equipment as required by assigned duties.
6. Respond to non-emergency situations when the presence of a police officer is requested in other areas of the facility.
7. Act promptly in emergency situations such as fires, ATLAS alerts, and duress calls.
8. Encourage security awareness among hospital personnel whenever feasible.
9. Demonstrate the ability to access various areas of the facility, including the Medical Office Building and grounds, at least 20% of the time in response to emergencies. Exhibit the capability to exert significant physical effort to restrain and manage violent individuals. Requires keen visual acuity and proficient hearing to react swiftly to alarms and various emergency situations.
