Job Overview

The Lab Technician III plays a crucial role in the clinical research environment by performing blood sample collections from participants while collaborating closely with our Clinical Research team to ensure exceptional care for patients and their guardians involved in our studies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepares, processes, and dispatches laboratory samples to external laboratories in compliance with IATA regulations.
  • Executes venipuncture and phlebotomy procedures on study participants.
  • Delivers high-quality service by adhering to established quality and customer service standards.
  • Contributes to team objectives by achieving related results as necessary.
  • Confirms participant identity by reviewing identification details.
  • Maintains specimen integrity by employing aseptic techniques and adhering to protocol procedures.
  • Tracks collected specimens by documenting initials, dates, and collection times; maintains daily records of collections performed as required.
  • Ensures a safe and healthy work environment by following established standards and procedures, and complying with legal regulations.
  • Enhances laboratory operations by taking ownership of new and diverse requests; seeks opportunities to add value to job performance.
  • Monitors inventory levels of laboratory supplies and kits, placing orders as necessary.
  • Organizes laboratory layout and facilitates efficient laboratory operations.
  • Conducts clinical studies in accordance with FDA regulations and guidelines.
  • Safeguards the safety and welfare of study participants by ensuring proper conduct of studies in compliance with ICH/GCP and Optimal Research Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Manages equipment and storage conditions for samples and reagents within the laboratory.
  • Oversees vendor management per DM and protocol procedures regarding samples, dry ice, liquid nitrogen (if applicable), and biohazard waste disposal.
  • Possesses knowledge of the Sponsor's protocol to ensure all study activities are executed accurately.
  • Demonstrates the ability to train and mentor new staff as required.
  • Exhibits appropriate and timely follow-up on action items at their respective sites.
  • Performs other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience:
  • A minimum of 4 years of phlebotomy and laboratory processing experience.
Credentials:
  • Phlebotomy certification is required.
  • Medical Assistant certification is preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to deadlines.
  • Understanding of basic scientific methods, procedures, and techniques.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Fluency in English is essential; proficiency in Spanish is preferred.
