Medical Laboratory Scientist

Mountain View Hospital is seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of laboratory tests and procedures, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of test results, and providing excellent customer service to patients, physicians, and other medical staff.
Responsibilities- Perform routine laboratory tests and procedures, including chemistry, blood bank, hematology, microbiology, and immunology.
- Ensure the validity of test results by performing calibrations, quality controls, and routine maintenance on all analyzers and manual tests.
- Provide excellent customer service, responding to phone calls and in-person requests from patients, physicians, and other medical staff.
- Work well under pressure, troubleshoot analyzers and equipment, prioritize specimens, multitask, and be flexible to accommodate laboratory needs.
- Participate in quality management activities, including QC testing of lab reagents and maintenance of equipment.
- Attend and participate in continuing education programs to monitor proficiency, expand current knowledge, and enhance professional excellence.
- Train students from affiliated programs or new employees as assigned.
- Work closely with all laboratory personnel to ensure timely client service and accurate test results.
- Participate in job competency/skills check program.
- Maintain open communication with supervisors, pathologists, and fellow employees to ensure optimal operation of department.
- Deliver age-appropriate care for the patient population and maintain strict confidentiality in all situations and with all documentation.
- BS in Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science/Medical Laboratory Science with MLS/MT/CLS national certification or equivalent.
- Current BLS Certification.
- Valid driver's license.
- New graduates must be registry eligible and sit for the board of certification exam within 6 months of hire.
- Must obtain a national certification within 1 year of hire.
