Sterile Processing Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Sterile Processing Technician to join our team at MedStar Health. As a Sterile Processing Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest level of patient care by processing and sterilizing medical equipment and supplies.
Key Responsibilities- Clean and sterilize medical equipment and supplies using washer-sterilizers, sonic washers, and dryers.
- Inspect equipment to ensure proper functioning and report any malfunctions to the supervisor.
- Sort, assemble, and wrap instruments and equipment for sterilization, distribution, or storage.
- Examine procedure trays and instrument sets for accuracy and condition, and co-sign listings.
- Assist in assembling operating room case carts and test packs.
- Sterilize cleaned, assembled, and wrapped sets and supplies using gas and steam sterilizers and gas aerators.
- Monitor sterilizers, aerators, and washer-sterilizers for proper functioning and report any issues to the supervisor.
- Inventories and stocks operating room POD carts, exchange carts, and storage cabinets.
- Remove damaged or outdated items, following established policies and procedures.
- Complete daily productivity reports and initial all work performed, as required.
- Attend seminars and in-services to attain certification and up-to-date knowledge of sterile processing methods and practices.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 6 to 12 months experience preferred.
- Certification as Sterile Processing Technician and current registration preferred.
