Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of the school administration, the LPN School Nurse will be responsible for providing health services to designated students, including performing student health procedures, administering medication, and maintaining up-to-date health records.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform student health procedures and assist students with administration of medication
  • Perform respiratory assessment and tracheostomy care as needed
  • Report to parents, school personnel, physicians, clinics, and other agencies on school health matters
  • Maintain up-to-date health records on students
  • Observe students on a regular basis to detect health needs
  • Work one on one with assigned students, travel to school on bus with students, and attend all classes and activities with required equipment
  • Maintain responsibility for emergency care of assigned students
  • Advise on modification of the education program to meet health needs of individual students
  • Prepare and submit reports for the lead nurse and principal
Requirements
  • Associate's Degree in Practical Nursing or equivalent education/training
  • Minimum of one (1) year practical nursing or closely related experience
  • Valid State of Georgia Practical Nurse license
  • Valid certificates in cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
  • Valid First Aid certificate
