School Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated School Nurse to join our team at the DeKalb County School District. As a School Nurse, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our students.
Job Summary:The School Nurse will provide essential healthcare services to students, including direct care, emergency assistance, medication administration, and health education. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of pediatric nursing principles and practices, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide direct care to students, including administering medications, giving intramuscular injections, and performing respiratory assessments.
- Monitor and assess student health on a regular basis to differentiate between those who can remain in school and those who need to be excluded due to illness.
- Maintain accurate health records and conduct regular health screenings, such as vision and hearing tests.
- Collaborate with parents, teachers, administrators, and healthcare providers to promote student health and create a safe school environment.
- Provide health education to students, staff members, parents, and guardians on topics such as hand hygiene, nutrition, and physical activity.
- Perform mandatory reporting duties to ensure compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
- Grade 117 - Licensed Practical Nursing or equivalent education/training required.
- Grade 122 - Registered Nurse or equivalent education/training or is required.
- Minimum one (1) year registered nurse, practical nursing or closely related experience is required. Experience in pediatric nursing is preferred.
