Job Title: Library Assistant I

Crawfordsville District Public Library is seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused individual to join our Adult Services Department as a Library Assistant I. This part-time position is ideal for someone who is passionate about providing excellent customer service and is eager to learn and grow in a dynamic library environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist patrons with access to and use of library collections, including the library catalog and online resources.
  • Provide programming for adults, including conducting simple in-person and virtual programming, and assisting with preparations for programming.
  • Maintain collection shelving order and appearance of shelves, including sorting and shelving materials efficiently and accurately.
  • Assist patrons with other aspects of the library or community information, including answering reference, directional, and community referral questions.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • At least one year of library experience highly preferred.
  • High degree of computer literacy with working knowledge of computers and mobile devices.
  • Experience with video content creation a plus.
Working Environment:

The Library Assistant I will work primarily indoors in a general library environment, with occasional participation in special library or community events that may occur outdoors. The position requires the ability to walk, sit, talk, and hear, as well as the ability to lift materials weighing up to 30 pounds.
