Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist Patrons: Provide guidance and support to patrons in locating materials, using the library catalog, and accessing digital resources.
  • Support Programming: Assist with preparations for programming, facilitate patron involvement in extended reading programs, and register patrons for library events.
  • Maintain Collection: Sort and shelf materials efficiently, perform shelf reading, and maintain the overall appearance of our collection.
  • Provide Community Information: Assist patrons with directional information, community referrals, and provide basic computer skills training.
  • Perform Administrative Tasks: Create documents, perform data entry, and assist with opening and closing duties.
Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree required.
  • Experience: One year or more of experience working with children, previous library or related experience preferred.
  • Skills: High degree of computer literacy, working knowledge of computers and mobile devices, excellent communication skills, and ability to maintain patience and a sense of humor while working with children, teens, and adults.
Working Environment:

The Library Assistant I will work primarily indoors in a general library environment. Participation in special library or community events may occur outdoors in a non-controlled environment.
