We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Parts Inventory Associate to join our team at Modern Auto CO. As a key member of our inventory management team, you will be responsible for maintaining an adequate parts inventory while minimizing obsolescence, ensuring proper reporting and financial controls, and adhering to all practices and policies required to meet these objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Inventory Management: Meet or exceed measurable guidelines for effective performance set by the management team and based on generally accepted industry standards, including inventory days supply, service level, true turn, stock versus emergency orders, 12-month "no sales," lost sales, special orders, outside purchases, etc.
- Parts Organization: Organize and maintain the parts department in the most efficient layout, establishing and maintaining logical locations for all parts and noting location in the computer by part number.
- Obsolescence Management: Establish and maintain a system for ageing special order bins, employing measures to deter department theft, and monitoring and tracking obsolescence accruals, utilizing all available obsolescence return accruals at time of return.
- Emergency Order Management: Develop, use, and monitor emergency order placement systems and schedules, ensuring proper information flow to all involved parties, and ensuring that emergency orders are used primarily to affect service-level goals.
- Special Order Management: Establish and maintain a special-order system, ensuring proper information flow regarding special orders to all involved parties, and ensuring proper information flow to accounting on non-system orders.
- Documentation and Reporting: Develop systems for receiving, shipping, logging, tracking, and controlling all parts and related documentation daily, maintaining missing document ledgers, and providing to accounting at month-end.
- Custodial Duties: Perform routine building maintenance, sweeping technician stalls, service department and body shop floors, showroom, halls, and vending areas, washing shop trucks, emptying and cleaning all trash receptacles, removing all debris from the lot, and removing old scrap parts from the shop after checking with the parts manager.
- Education and Experience: High School diploma or general education diploma (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, ability to write routine reports and correspondence, and ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume, and ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists, ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form, and ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
