Job Description

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service and ensuring timely deliveries to our valued customers. Your role will involve representing East Coast Metal Distributors in a professional and courteous manner, wearing a clean and company-provided uniform.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Delivery and Customer Service: Implement timely deliveries, greet customers, verify items with proper initialing and dating, and help unload trucks. Notify the Warehouse Manager of any discrepancies before leaving the place of delivery.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Maintain a clean and safe delivery vehicle, both inside and out.
  • Communication and Reporting: Immediately report any personal injury or vehicle accident to the Warehouse Manager.
  • Inventory Management: Obtain products for counter sales orders, validate correct items and quantities on pick tickets and transfer requests, and stage and ship orders via LTL, UPS, and East Coast Metal Distributors delivery vehicles.
  • Warehouse Support: Help other warehouse personnel by verifying correct items and quantities, and assist with unloading incoming inventory and documenting its arrival.

Requirements:

  • Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Experience: Previous counter sales, HVAC, and customer service experience is desired.
  • Skills: Must be computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office products, and able to use general office machines and a multi-line telephone.
  • Language Skills: Requires the ability to read and comprehend a variety of informational documentation, procedures, and correspondence, and to effectively communicate with customers and employees using correct English and a well-modulated voice.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is mostly performed in a traditional office setting, with occasional work in a warehouse that may be dimly lit with exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, and airborne particles.
  • There is some risk of exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals and gases, outside weather conditions, extreme cold or heat, and loud noises.

  • Willingness to work overtime, holidays, and weekends as requested by the Branch Operations Manager.
