Position Overview:
Join the dynamic team at MACNY's Job Board as an Import Compliance Specialist. This role is pivotal in ensuring adherence to import regulations across multiple sites within our organization.
The Import Compliance Specialist will oversee the development and implementation of compliance programs, ensuring alignment with Customs Regulations and other relevant governmental agencies.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and maintain a robust import compliance framework, addressing critical areas such as valuation, classification, country of origin, marking, documentation, and record-keeping.
2. Create comprehensive procedures for all operational activities related to the importation of goods.
3. Collaborate with Finance and Purchasing departments to ensure accurate valuation of imported products.
4. Classify items for import in accordance with the Harmonized Tariff Schedule.
5. Evaluate eligibility for preferential treatment under Free Trade Agreements and manage supplier documentation requests.
6. Stay informed on import regulations and implement necessary updates to compliance practices.
7. Identify strategies to minimize import duties legally.
8. Provide guidance to Purchasing and Executive teams regarding trade compliance implications of business decisions.
9. Work collaboratively with various departments to mitigate trade disruptions and uphold compliance standards.
10. Monitor compliance activities and assess the effectiveness of internal controls, ensuring all procedures and documentation are current and compliant.
11. Generate and analyze reports from relevant information systems to track compliance metrics.
12. Manage relationships with customs brokers and evaluate their performance.

Minimum: USD $85,000.00/Yr.
Qualifications:
Essential Experience:
- At least 7 years of experience in U.S. import trade compliance.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Law, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field is preferred.
- Possession of a U.S. Customs Broker License or Customs Certified Specialist certification (CCS) is required.
- Comprehensive understanding of U.S. Customs and Border Protection Regulations, including valuation and classification.
- Experience working with U.S. international trade regulatory agencies.
- Proven track record in developing trade compliance programs within a global organization.
Desired Skills:
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in utilizing ERP/MRP systems and Customs' Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) for reporting and analysis.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong project management capabilities and leadership skills.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
