Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately identify patients and select their Medical Record Number (MRN) when applicable, ensuring zero errors.
- Efficiently collect and input all necessary patient demographics and healthcare information into the Registration Module, demonstrating thorough knowledge of registration policies and procedures.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of registrations, including verification of health insurance details and processing of co-payments as per departmental guidelines.
- Determine health insurance eligibility by entering policy numbers into relevant systems, making necessary corrections as needed.
- Consistently adhere to hospital policies regarding consents to treat, ensuring all necessary consents are signed and witnessed prior to treatment.
- Communicate any special patient needs to clinical departments and send notifications to the Pre-Certification Department for added cases.
- Inquire about the existence of a Healthcare Proxy and distribute HIPAA information, updating the Registration Module accordingly.
- Complete all assigned tasks by the end of the shift and maintain competency through annual evaluations.
Customer Service Skills:
- Engage with patients courteously, treating them with respect and compassion.
- Respond patiently to inquiries and provide accurate information.
- Handle interruptions professionally and maintain a polished appearance.
- Strive to resolve customer concerns effectively, ensuring satisfaction.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Above-average typing skills and familiarity with medical terminology preferred.
- Previous experience in reception, office, or healthcare registration is advantageous.
