The Medical Assistant II, Certified provides clinical and administrative support to providers and other healthcare team members in an outpatient clinic setting.
This role requires a Medical Assistant certification and at least one year of full-time experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified.
Responsibilities- Performs rooming and intake process, collecting and documenting patient data, including vital signs, height, weight, and medical and social history.
- Assists providers with treatments, examinations, and procedures, and collects specimens and performs phlebotomy.
- Administers medications under the direction of a provider and performs tests, such as EKG and eye exams, under the direction of a provider.
- Reviews patient records to determine whether patients require routine health screenings and ensures exam and treatment rooms are prepared and stocked with necessary supplies and equipment.
- Provides patient education and instructions, and assists with patient registration, check-in, and appointment scheduling.
- Answers clinic telephone and assists with in-basket tasks under the direction of a provider or nurse.
- Medical Assistant certification by a recognized organization, such as the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or the National Health Career Association (CCMA).
- Basic Life Support Certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross (ARC).
- At least one year of full-time experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified.
