Job Summary

The Henry Ford Health System is seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant to join our orthopedic surgery team. As a member of our multidisciplinary healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in the operating room and ambulatory clinic settings.

This is a full-time day position, with no weekends or call required. The selected candidate will split their time between the operating room as a first assist and having their own independent clinic. In the clinic setting, you will decompress physician clinics by managing preoperative and postoperative patients. This role also offers versatility, allowing for coverage during physician absences, sports events, or if needed for increased patient access.

Ambulatory clinic experience is preferred, but not required. You may be occasionally required to round on postoperative patients in the inpatient setting. The ability to work comfortably with residents and other advanced practice providers is essential.

Responsibilities

* Assess, diagnose, treat, educate, consult, and coordinate patient care as a first-line provider
* Provide inpatient and outpatient medical care, including taking patient history, performing physical examinations, ordering and interpreting tests, making diagnoses, and implementing treatment programs
* Collaborate with staff physicians, house officers, nurses, and other healthcare team members to ensure safe and efficient patient outcomes
* Perform specific procedures individually credentialed based on training and experience, with first or second assist in surgical cases

Requirements

* Bachelor's degree or completion of an AMA-approved Physician Assistant program, or Master's degree in nursing
* Michigan state licensure and continued certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), or current certification as a Certified Nurse Practitioner and current State license as a Registered Nurse
* Current ACLS or BLS certification and ATLS/PALS provider status, as required
