Position Summary:
The Buyer plays a crucial role within our Purchasing department, contributing significantly to our operational success. This position requires a keen ability to assess and analyze supply chain requirements and proposals, ensuring alignment with specifications, delivery timelines, and pricing.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Solicit quotes and prepare purchase orders for various commodities, materials, supplies, and equipment, including specialized items.
2. Collaborate with requisitions, CAD drawings, and assess the quantity and timing of purchases.
3. Identify potential suppliers, evaluate their offerings based on price, quality, and delivery schedules.
4. Process and track all purchase orders diligently.
5. Work alongside other departments to facilitate substitutions when necessary to fulfill customer orders, which may include securing samples or arranging tests.
6. Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of all purchasing activities.
7. Monitor and manage safety stock levels to ensure optimal inventory management.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent; an Associate or Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficient in administrative and clerical procedures, including word processing and record management.
- Strong Excel skills and familiarity with ERP systems (experience with Made to Manage is a plus).
- Understanding of business and management principles related to strategic planning and resource allocation.
- Ability to reconcile purchase price variances effectively.
- Excellent communication skills to provide information to supervisors and colleagues in various formats.
- Strong organizational and planning skills to prioritize and accomplish daily tasks.
- Capability to lift up to 15 lbs as required.
