About the Role

The University of Miami is seeking a highly skilled Ultrasound Technologist Level II to join our team in Doral, Florida. As a key member of our radiology department, you will be responsible for performing complex ultrasound procedures and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and manage scheduling and patient flow for interdepartmental procedures.
  • Supervise and perform diagnostic imaging studies under the direction of a radiologist.
  • Assist with the education and training of new physicians and technologists.
  • Participate in research initiatives and develop new protocols and imaging techniques.
  • Act as a team leader and provide guidance and support to colleagues.
  • Monitor charging of ultrasound procedures and supplies to ensure accuracy.
  • Provide in-service classes and training to staff members.
  • Obtain and examine orders for ultrasound scans to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Identify patient service requirements and provide personalized care.
  • Verify patient identification and obtain necessary consents and education.
  • Perform complex specialized tasks associated with ultrasound scanners and related equipment.
  • Integrate diagnostic, laboratory results, and patient history to adapt exams as necessary.
  • Adhere to ultrasound protocols to maintain high-quality standards.
  • Consistently demonstrate competence in performing ultrasound scans.
  • Assist with positioning patients and maintaining aseptic technique.
  • Assist radiologists with imaging procedures, starting IVs, and injecting contrast.
  • Evaluate ultrasound scans for technical quality and transmit to PACS.
  • Schedule patients for procedures and assist with clerical functions.
  • Charge procedures and supplies in UChart/Radiant.
  • Maintain accurate patient records.
  • Provide education and training to student technologists.
  • Apply physical age-specific and developmental care needs of patients.
  • Perform basic nursing functions and assume care for patients during scanning procedures.
  • Keep work areas clean and sanitary and stock exam rooms with required supplies.
  • Provide on-call coverage and report unusual findings to radiologists or supervisory personnel.
  • Abide by hospital and departmental HR policies and adhere to regulatory guidelines.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of a Diagnostic Medical Sonography and/or Vascular accredited program.
  • ARDMS registered, with Abdominal & Vascular certification required.
  • CPR and BLS certification required.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work under pressure.
  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
  • Commitment to the University's core values.
  • Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
  • Proficiency in computer software, such as Microsoft Office.
