Job Overview

Position Type: On-Site

General Summary

The role involves overseeing the approval, closing, and servicing functions of all mortgage loan files. The objective is to serve our members by fostering responsible borrowing and saving practices while being attuned to their financial needs through comprehensive knowledge of all credit union services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct audits of loan files post-closing to ensure compliance and support future business growth.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of audit and business procedures and checklists.
  • Uphold member confidentiality at all times.
  • Deliver exceptional service to third-party agencies, members, and colleagues regarding documentation needs for pre, post, and closing loan processes.
  • Review mortgage files to ensure adherence to agency guidelines.
  • Issue loan commitments and denial notifications within a specified timeframe.
  • Ensure all underwriting criteria are satisfied for post-closing and verify that a clear title insurance policy is obtained.
  • Assist with government HMDA filings, including tracking and reporting.
  • Prepare mortgage loan payoff quotes as needed.
  • Stay informed about changes in secondary market guidelines.
  • Package closed loan files for sale to the secondary market in accordance with their standards.
  • Balance mortgage loan clearing general ledgers on a daily basis.
  • Reconcile custodial escrow and funding checking accounts daily.
  • Track and manage closed loan documents such as final title policies and Deeds of Trusts.
  • Prepare Deeds of Reconveyance for all paid and refinanced loans.
  • Acquire knowledge to serve as a backup in loan servicing and processing functions.
  • Develop proficiency in the data processing system and departmental software.
  • Address member inquiries regarding their mortgage loans.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of mortgage loan servicing requirements and guidelines to ensure compliance.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support a culture of sales and service by effectively communicating the benefits and features of all products and services to members.
  • Gain insights into competitors' offerings to enhance service quality and product offerings for the credit union.
  • Participate in in-house training sessions as required for this position.
  • Assist in various areas as directed by management.

Job Specifications

  • Possess strong interpersonal skills necessary for effectively serving credit union members in person or via phone, while projecting a positive image.
  • Have a foundational understanding of mortgage lending regulations, including FHA, VA, and Conventional loans.
  • Exhibit a high degree of accuracy and possess intermediate mathematical skills for calculations involving decimals, percentages, and fractions.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving abilities that apply established practices to diverse situations, requiring sound judgment.
